According to history the Boston Terrier holds its origin to one of the cities of Massachusetts. The actual Boston Terriers were mixed between the English White Terrier which is now an extinct breed and the English bull dog. Their young ones were crossed with a few Bulldogs of the French breed, giving the base for the Boston terrier. The nick name by which the Boston Terriers are sometimes known is roundheads
Boston Terriers, also known as the Boston bull. The Boston terrier characteristic features are it is a solid and muscular dogs. The Boston terrier’s body is short and looks like a square. They have black a nose. The eyes are round, large and dark and it has small erect ears. The Boston terrier have limbs that are straight and well-developed while the neck is arched and it has a broad chest. It has a short tail which is shaped like screw or straight. The coat comes in different colors and is short smooth and silky to touch.
Boston terrier dog training is not difficult as they are keen learners and very intelligent thus pick up things very quickly. They are also very responsive about the pitch of voice when one speaks. Boston needs a gentle, confident but firm trainer who can give instructions to the dog and make him follow them. The Boston Terrier can be depended upon when it comes to children and elderly people as they are very playful and loving and like to be apart of a family.
Other information about Boston terrier is that the height of a Boston terrier can be as high as 15-17 inches and they may weigh about 10-25 pounds. A Boston terrier puppies require to be taken for daily walks as well as it should be allowed to play freely in a fenced area. They are not heavy and can be easily carried around. The Boston terrier is a dog that is gentle, observant, very sharp, well-mannered and passionate. They need proper amount of both mental and physical activity for proper growth.
Boston terrier health problem include a sort of defect of the skull that stops the growth of the brain thus causing damage of the brain. The eyes of the Boston terrier have much chances of getting hurt easily and they also have breathing problems which makes them snore and drool. The Boston may also have tumors of the heart and the skin.
Boston terrier adoption is a good choice as they are very loving and adaptable. It is not difficult grooming a Boston terrier as they have smooth silky and short haired coat. The breed does not shed much hair and also does not have the strong smell that dogs usually have. It should only be given bath when very essential. The face of a Boston should be wiped everyday with a wet cloth and especially the eyes should be cleaned. Apart from checking for ears for ticks, the nails need to be should also be cute off regularly
