The origin of the English bulldog is some of the islands of England According to the Bull dog history they are the descendents of the early mastiffs of Asia. The dog got its name “bull” because it was used to bait the bull and for the tough look which made it look like a small bull. The Bull dog was violent, fierce and courageous and had the strength to hit fully grown bulls. They attacked from beneath the bull aiming straight for the neck, thus the fighting back for the bull was difficult. 

The characteristic features of a bulldog are that it is a medium sized dog which has legs that are short. It has a big body as well as head and the skull along with the forehead has additional skin which falls in creases. The cheeks are up to the eyes sides. They have a black nose which is broad and have large nostrils and the eyes are dark and deep set. The bull dog has ears that are tiny, lean and right up on the head. They have jaws which are huge, very wide and like a square and have upper lips that hang. The bulldog has a tail that is twisted or straight. The coat of the bull dog is short, flat, silky and shiny.

Other bull dog information includes the color of the various different shades of red or combinations of all those colors with white. Though the English Bulldogs may look somewhat scary, it is one of the most gentle amongst dog.  It is known to be very loving and reliable pet and is very gentle with children. The bull dog is acknowledged for its daring attitude and its admirable ability to guard. The bull dog is known to be bullheaded and firm and very persistent and never give up quickly .They love human attention and require lots of human attention in order to be happy.

The height of a bull dog can be about twelve to sixteen inches and it may weigh about 53-55 pounds. Female bulldogs weigh about 49-51 pounds.

The bull dog health problems include they suffer from problems related to breathing. They also have poor eyesight, are very vulnerable to heat and hot climates and are also very sensitive to cold. They may also problems relating to the knees as well as the hips. and are inclined to skin infections.

The bull dog adoption can be done as it is dog  which loves to stay within the house and is excellent for keeping in apartments. They are not very active in the house and can do without a yard. The climate that is required for a bull dog is temperate climate. The English bulldog should be taken for daily walks.

The average number of years a bull dog may live is eight years.. A bull dog puppies are about 4-5 when born. Often during child birth they  need caesarian section as they have big head.

The coat of the bull dog is smooth, fine, and short-haired and not difficult to take care of. The hair needs to combed and brushed with a firm brush. It should be given bath only when much needed. The face of the bull dog needs to be wiped with a moist cloth daily every day in order to get the wrinkles cleaned. The bull dogs are average shedders.
