The Dachshund Dog history reveals the origin of the Dachshund Dog to Germany around 1600s.They was bred to hunt for small kills like badger and rabbits. The Dachshund has short legs so that they could hunt and follow their prey underground and fight their prey and kill them. “Dachs” means badger. They are very loyal to the people of the family, but Dachshund dog training is a little difficult but it is not impossible.

They should be carefully handled when taken for walks as there are chances of it being stepped on by the pedestrians as they are less visible due to their size. Dachshund dog should not be allowed to jump as they can hurt their spine and injure themselves. The number of years a Dachshund dog may live is around twelve to fifteen  years.

The wire-haired need to be taken to professionals for trimming at least two times a year and the smooth-haired dachshund require to be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth.
