According to the Doberman Pinscher history the origin of the breed is a recent one. Inter breeding amongst the German shepherd Pinschers, Beaucerons, Greyhounds, Manchester Terriers Rottweilers and other sold shorthaired shepherds gave birth to this breed. As this dog was created by Louis Doberman so this breed was named after its creator. Doberman Pinschers are used for many works out of which some are tracking, guarding, working as watch dogs, for police and military work or search & rescue operation work.

The Doberman pinscher characteristic features are it is a dog with a solid muscular body. It is not a very tall dog and has a long head and a flat skull. The life expectancy of the Doberman pinscher is about thirteen years. They need very little grooming as they are average shedders.

Doberman Pinschers are extremely enthusiastic and full of life with terrific strength and energy. They are very devoted, tolerant, committed and loving with the family. They are also strong-minded, daring, firm, versatile, highly skilled, and adaptable and flexible. Doberman Pinscher training is easy as they are very intelligent. The Doberman requires firm and confident handling as well as consistency by setting rules for them and making them following it.

The Doberman Pinschers are an exceptional watch dogs and don’t require extra protection training. Doberman if given enough exercise is a very good dog to be kept in families. The Doberman Pinschers has earned a reputation of a violent dog though in reality they are very lovable and calm with old people and children and family and protect their owners as and when required.
