Miniature Pinscher: “ King of toys”

According to the Miniature Pinscher history this dog holds its origin to Germany. In German the meaning of “pinscher” is” terrier”. The Miniature Pinscher was got by interbreeding three different types of breeds of dogs. The Pinscher looks like a small Doberman as both of them were got from the  Pinscher breed of Germany. They were used to control the population of rodents in places where animals were kept.

The Miniature Pinscher characteristics include it is a small, solid dog which looks like a square. The head and the body are both proportionate to each other and the skull is flat. It has dark eyes which are slightly oval. The ears are held high whether it is cut or left as it is. It has small feet which have the shape of cats and the tail is cropped. It has a coat that is smooth, hard and short and they come in different colors. The Miniature Pinschers are very tough, brave and proud. They are very intelligent, dedicated to their masters, energetic and vigilant and full of high energy. They normally adjust well with other pets, children and aged people.

The Miniature Pinscher training is easy as they are very keen learners thus learns things very well. They understand and obey instructions very well but need to be given rules, boundaries and their limitation as to what they are expected to do and what not.

The Miniature Pinscher puppies can be taken for dog courses for them to meet other types of dogs and people and be trained to get socialized. They should be checked so that they do not chew small things as this may choke them. The height of the male Miniature Pinscher is about 10-12 inches and that of a female Pinscher is 10-122 inches while the weight of the male pinscher is 8-10 pounds and bitches weigh about 8-9 pounds.

The Miniature Pinscher health problems are a few as they are generally healthy and don’t suffer from health problems but they need to be treated properly otherwise they tend to get a human induced disease known as “small dog syndrome”. Over feeding the Miniature Pinscher is not advisable.

The Miniature Pinscher adoption can be done by people who live in apartments as they very energetic inside the house and do not need a yard for play and activities but they should never be let to stay outside the house as they need to be protected from cold. The Miniature Pinscher needs to be taken for walks daily. They also enjoy jumping and playing as well as running in open areas without any leash, but the area needs to be fenced and the fence should be high to stop them from running away and exploring things.

Other Miniature Pinscher information includes the number of years it may survive is about 15 yrs or more. They have a coat which is hard and has short hair. Grooming the Pinscher is not hard. They should be shampooed only if very necessary but the hair should be combed and brushed with a stiff coat brush regularly. The Miniature Pinscher does not shed much hair and the loose hair can be removed by just getting the coat wiped with a damp cloth dipped in warm water.
