According to the Welsh Corgi history this breed is elder, as the Pembroke was bred out from the Cardigan. It is believed that both the variations of the Corgi could be descendants of the Pomeranian, Keeshond, Swedish Vallund and the Schipperkes. Some are of the opinion that the older Cardigan belonged to Cardiganshire and the earlier generations of the Pembroke were got around the eleven hundreds by the weavers of Flemish.
The Pembroe Welsh Corgi characteristics include it is a long dog which is as low as the ground. It has a wide skull. It has a top line that is level. The Corgis have a black nose and the jaws meet like the bite of a scissor. It has oval eyes which come in brown shades and it depends upon the color of the dog’s coat. It has a double coat and the outer coat is longer and rough while the undercoat is short, thick and weather resistant .The color of the coat can be different combinations of red and black. The Corgis at times has white patches on different parts of its body and head.
Other information about the Pembroe Welsh Corgi is that the height of the male Pembroe Welsh Corgi is about 10-12 inches and the bitches are 10-12 inches tall while the weight of the male corgi is 25-40 pounds and that of the bitches is 24-28 pounds. They have a coat that is medium in length and soft as well as water resistant. The hair of the Pembroe is not difficult to be handled and sheds twice a year. It just needs to be brushed and combed with a firm brush that’s bristle and given bath when very essential.
Pembroe Welsh Corgi adoption can also be thought by people who live in apartments as though Corgis are not dogs to be kept in apartments but can stay well in one if given sufficient exercise. If they are given enough exercise they stay calm inside the house. A yard is not required for a Corgi if they are take for walks on a daily basis.
Prembroe Welsh corgi health problems include eye problems and problems related to the back. The have a tendency to gain weight fast and easily so should not be over fed as overfeeding may make them fat which would lead to back problem. The number of years a Pembroe may live is around twelve to fifteen years.
The Pembroke Welsh Corgi training should be started when they are very young. The trainer is required to be determined, consistent firm and calm as well as loving in his approach.
