According to the Pug dog history it is the most ancient breeds that we know of today. It is said believed to have come into existence prior to four hundred BC. There is a controversy regarding its origin but most of the researchers are of the opinion that the Pug Dog originated from Asia. They were also kept as pets in the Tibetan monasteries. The Pugs Dogs were also taken as pets by the royal people.  

The Pug Dog characteristic features include they are a small, sturdy, square, bulky dog. It has a head that is round and huge with a square shaped muzzle that is short and blunt. It has two beauty spots on its cheeks. They have large dark eyes which are prominent and ears which are small and thin and shaped either like a button or rose. They also have large deep wrinkles on the face and the tail which is high set is bent above the back. It has short coat which is soft and silky. The color of the coat may be fawn, silver, black or apricot. 

The Pug dog’s puppies are eager dogs and have a carefree approach. They are high spirited, very playful, devoted, loving, warm intelligent and friendly with their families. 

 The Pug dog training should be done by a person who is firm, confident as well as calm and constant with the methods of teaching manners. They Pugs are very good watchdogs as they are very faithful. Pug dogs are also very adjustable with cats and other pets of the house and also conduct itself perfectly with guests as well as children. 

Some of the Pug Dog health problems are that they catch cold very quickly. They are also known affected by different sorts of allergies and due to the short muzzle they suffer from chronic breathing problems. The pug dogs are also prone to problems of the skin and Pug Dog Encephalitis which the brain getting swollen that usually attack young Pugs about two three years old. While giving birth they need to have cesarean because of the big head of the puppies. They also have chances of getting swelling or ulcers in the cornea.  

A Pug dog adoption is best for people living in apartments as they are not very active inside the house. The Pug dogs are very sensitive to extreme temperatures so they should be kept inside the house at comfortable warmth. 

Other Pug dog information includes the number of years a Pug dog may live is around twelve to fifteen years. They are well-built dogs with legs that are short and straight. The Pugs enjoy active games and will be healthy if made to exercise regularly. The Pug dog has a soft and silky short haired coat which is very easy to groom. Application of shampoo on the hair is only when essential. The Pug dog sheds its hair heavily seasonally and the wrinkles of the face need to be cleaned on a regular basis. The height of a male pug dog can be about 12-14 inches and a female may be about 10-12 inches. Similarly a male pug dog may weigh about 13-20 pounds and females may be about 13-18 pounds.
