The Shih Tzu Dog history show are evidences of a dog which looks exactly like the Shih Tzu in the documents as well as paintings of the sixteenth century. The Shih Tzu is believed to be the cross breed of the Lhasa Apso and the Pekingese dog. They were most liked by the royal families of China .It was only in nineteen thirty’s that they were first brought to England after being discovered by the soldiers during the Second World War
The Shih Tzu Dog characteristics are that the Shih-Tzu is a miniature, strong dog and its body is long rather than tall. It has a head that is and wide as well as rounded, and has wide eyes. It has a broad nose with nostril that are open. The nose, the rims of the eyes and the lips are all according to the color of the dogs. The teeth meet like a bite of a scissor. It has large, round dark eyes. It has big ears which dangle and is full of hair. It has legs that are muscular. The tail is set high and covered with abundant hair. It coat is double which is thick. The excess hair is several times clipped to prevent it from falling on the eyes.
The Shih-Tzu dog puppies are vigilant, active, who are happy and tough and packed with character. They are very gentle and loyal and make friends without difficulty and respond well to regular as well as patient training. The Shih-Tzu can be very good watch dogs as they are very alert, clever and courageous. The Shih Tzu is very mischievous and spunky and being very affectionate like being with family all around and are also very friendly and excellent with other animals. They usually develop a disease called small dog syndrome where it believes that it is superior to humans and thus shows tantrums by being obstinate and barking obsessively. The Shih Tzu Dog training needs to be done firmly and given rules and limits as to things it is supposed to do and what things are not allowed. They need to be taken for walks daily in order to burn energy.
The Shih Tzu can grow as high as 11 inches and weigh up to 16 pounds. The health problems of Shih Tzu Dog is, they are prone to spinal disc disease and slipped stifle. They can also have infection of the ears, problems related to eye and premature loss of tooth problems. They also tend to wheeze as well as snore. They should not be over fed as they have the tendency of gaining weight easily. The number of years the Shih Tzu may live is about 15 years.
Other Information about the Shih Tzu Dog is it needs to be groomed daily by a coat brush. The passage of the ears and region surrounding the eyes should be clean as the eyes of the Shih-Tzu’s are very sensitive. As they shed very little or no hair and do not cause any problem for people who suffer from allergies so the Shih Tzu Dog can be adopted with ease.
