According to the Bull Terrier history during the early Eighteenth century the bull dogs were inter bred with the terriers giving rise to a new breed which we today know as the Bull TerrierThe Bullterriers were crossed with Staffordshire’s in order to get Bull Terrier of different colors. The Bull Terriers were used for guarding as well as herding. A smaller version of the Bull Terrier was also developed which was similar to the Bull Terrier in every way except that they were small in size. They were acknowledged as a breed by the American Kennel Club in Eighteen hundred and eighty five and the Miniature Bull Terrier in Nineteen Ninety one.
The Bull Terrier characteristics include it is a dog which is built very strongly and full of muscles. It has a round body and the back is short and strong. It has a long strong head which is shaped like an oval and the dark .The dark eyes are small and shaped like an almond and it has a black nose. The Bull Terriers have ears that are small and thin and the neck is long and well built resting on strong shoulders. The Bull Terriers have short tail and the coat though thick and short is rough when touched. The American Kennel Club accepts Bull Terriers of two colors. The Bull Terriers may either be completely white or various combinations of red.
Bull Terrier training is a little difficult though not impossible. The trainer needs to handle the dog with a lot of firmness and confidence and the rules it sets for the dog to follow needs to be very consistent. The training should be done with a lot of calmness and patience
The Bull Terrier puppies are very devoted to their master and get much attached to the family as it treats itself one of them. They are very obedient and very protective about the master.
Other Bull terrier information’s include the number of years that a Bull Terrier may live is about ten to twelve years. The height of the Bull Terrier is twenty inches to twenty four inches while the weight of the Bull Terrier is forty five to eighty pounds. The Miniature Bull Terrier may be as tall as ten inches to fourteen inches and weigh around twenty four pounds to thirty three pounds. The number of puppies that are born to a Bull Terrier is about one to nine.
The Bull terrier health problems include they have the problem of the kneecap getting dislocated. They may also have problems of the kidney as well as heart and allergies due to the fleas and the skin. They may also suffer from diseases that are caused by the deficiency of zinc. These diseases are very fatal and can even lead to death. They have the tendency of gaining weight quickly so should not be given excess food to eat. They may also suffer from problems related to hearing.
The Bull Terriers adoption is not for people who are not active. It is a suitable breed to be kept in apartments if they can be provided with sufficient exercise. They are pretty active within the house and would need a small area to play. The Bull terriers are comfortable in warm areas. They need to be taken for walks daily.
Grooming a Bull Terrier is not difficult as they need to be combed and brushed occasionally. The Bull Terrier sheds hair two times in a year and the hair that is loose can be removed by rubbing them down daily with the help of a special type of glove made of rubber.
