According to the Norwegian Elkhound history it holds its origin to Scandinavia and is the oldest breeds of dogs that are found. The Norwegian Elkhound puppies are very vigilant, brave, faithful, full of energy and friendly. They are very good companion for children. Grooming the coat of the Elkhound which is weatherproof, rough and hard is not difficult .It needs to be brushed on a regular basis and extra attention needs to be paid during the shedding season. During the shedding season the dead hair sticks to the hair that is new so it needs to be brushed and removed. It should be given bath only when essential as if it is given bath regularly all the oil present in the skin gets removed. The smell that is present in the hair of the Elkhound is not there. The coat of the Elkhound is resistant to both water as well as dirt. The Elkhound sheds hair very heavily during seasons.
