The trainer needs to have a lot of authority to give proper and clear instructions and training needs to be given with a lot of calmness and patience

The height of the Old English Sheep Dog is twenty two inches to twenty four inches while the bitches may be as tall as twenty inches to twenty two inches. The weight of the Old English Sheep Dog is sixty five pounds while that of the bitches is sixty pounds. It has been observed that some of the Old English Sheep Dog can weigh over one hundred pounds. When the dog barks it sounds like a bell that’s cracked.

The coat of the Old English Sheep Dog is rough and long which needs to be taken care of regularly to maintain its  good condition. Combing and brushing of the coat needs to be done two to three times in a week to avoid it getting matted. If it gets matted the skin may get affected thus causing infections. The Old English Sheep Dog sheds hair seasonally generally during spring.
