The Yorkshire was initially one of the divisions of the Terriers and due to their big size were used for hunting rats in the mines. As years have passed they have been bred to be of small sizes and now they come under the category of toy dogs. Thus one of the famous breed of dog of North America is the Yorkshire terrier. Their popularity is so immense that great time celebrities have been seen carrying these Yorkie puppies as pets with them for grand occasions. The Yorkie have been all dressed up to be made to look beautiful for the occasion and befit the owner.

Some important Yorkie information include the Yorkshire is a very popular breed because of their attractive looks, small size and attitude. They weigh about 3-7 pounds. The Yorkshire has an aggressive nature. They are very loyal to the family they belong to and warn the family by barking if any danger is crops up. The Yorkshire is a dog which is full of life dog and because of their alertness they are often used in competitions and also to play Frisbee. The Yorkshire does not need extra exercise like other big dogs and its pretty active within the house. But it is seen to have an aggressive nature so it’s not a suitable dog to be kept with families and where there are young children.

The head of Yorkie dogs are always seen to be upright as it’s always alert. The hair is long and fine and the coat of a Yorkshire is glossy. They do not have any under coat so they do not shed much hair. The hair of a Yorkshire is exactly like the humans which grows until it is cut and also falls out rarely. The Yorkshire caries less dander and thus does not smell very bad when wet. So they are not harmful for people who have allergies.

The number of years a Yorkshire may live is about 12 to 15 years. The small breeds of the Yorkshire have less years of life than the other Yorkshire breeds. The Yorkshire needs to be given proper food and all sorts of left over food and treats need to be avoided as the Yorkshire has a very sensitive digestive system. The Yorkshire terrier has a very sensitive skin as they are very much prone to allergies.

So lastly it can be said that  a Yorkshire Terrier is part of the small toy dog group which is very lively and does not need to be taken for walks  regularly nor does it shed too much of its hair.
